2014 Suzuki Alto Spied

The next generation of Suzuki Alto was spied in the South European Market very recently. A complete overhauling of Alto was needed  and a replacement is expected to surface sometime next year.

Early reports suggested that the Japanese-market Suzuki Wagon R would form the basis for the 2014 Alto, however these photos suggest that this won’t be the case. Reason being the headlights of spied car is higher than wagon R also the rear boxy tall rear is also absent. The car seems to have increased wheel base suggesting increased legroom.

The interior of this pre-production prototype looks basic, with lots of grey and black plastic surfacing which is not a surprise being an economical entry level hatchback. The spy-shots reflects that  the construction and build quality of the cabin looks better than the current model.

As for the engine line-up, the current 1.0 liter three-cylinder petrol is likely to continue powering the Alto into the next generation. A 800cc two cylinder turbo-diesel is also rumored.

We’re still not sure whether we’ll get a new Alto since we haven’t been able to settle trade liberalization with India.
