Cars are a great conversation starter, especially for men. It’s one of the things that guys bond over. Wherever there’s a group of guys, cars is one of the topics most likely to come up. Today, we have got some amazing car fun facts that you can use to impress your friends and become the life of the party.
We have dug through the internet to bring you the craziest, most fun facts about cars. Let’s go.
1. You can drive to the moon in less than six months.
Here’s how this crazy fact started: Fred Hoyle, a famous astronomer, pointed out that if you drive upwards at the speed of 95 kilometers per hour, you could get into space in an hour. This random calculation led to the discovery that, at this speed, you could reach the moon in less than six months.
2. The highest car mileage in the world is over 3,000,000 miles.
Irving Gordon has the Guinness World Record for the highest mileage of a staggering 3,260,257 miles (4,828,032 km) on his 1966 Volvo 1800S in 52 years. That’s roughly the same as 130 laps around the world or seven trips to the moon.
3. Cars spend 95% of their lifetime parked, doing nothing.
We sure think cars are a big part of our lives. Turns out, we probably spend more time talking about cars than driving them. According to research, cars are parked 95% of the time and driven only 5%.
4. Only 1 out of 5 drivers know how to drive a manual transmission.
The art of driving is slowly dying from this world as people shift to automatic cars. Gone are the days when people used to enjoy driving cars with a stick that goes up, down, and sideways. Today, the drivers just want to mash their foot down and ask the car to do all the work.
The number of people who can drive a manual transmission varies from country to country. But, on average, only one out of every five drivers is experienced enough to drive a manual car.
5. China produces the most cars in the world.
Have you ever wondered which country has got the most cars on the line? We have, and our guess was Japan. Nope, the country that produces the most number of cars is, in fact, China.
But here’s an even bigger shocker: although China makes over 24 million cars in a year, it has only 150 cars per 1,000 people. That’s atrociously small compared to the rate of 700 cars per 1,000 people in Japan. This is because most Chinese people prefer walking, cycling, or taking public transport than having a personal car. That’s why 60% of Chinese-produced cars are sold in other Asian countries, including Pakistan.
6. New Zealand has the most cars in the world.
The country with the most cars is, again, not Japan. Not even China or the US; it’s actually New Zealand. With a population of 4.8 million, there are 4.4 million cars in the country. That means out of 1,000 people, 912 own a vehicle.
7. London has the worst traffic in the world.
Being stuck in traffic is a turn-off for every driver. Even though we think traffic jams can’t get any worse than here in Lahore, there are cities in the world with even worse traffic. London tops the charts of 2021’s list of cities with the worst traffic, with drivers losing an average of 148 hours a year in traffic. Number two is Paris, then Brussels, then Moscow, and then New York.
8. White is the most popular car color.
We do see more white cars on the road than any other color, right? That’s because 70% of the cars in the world are of grayscale colors, black, gray, white, and silver. Out of this 70%, 39% are pure white.
