Lahore, one of Pakistan’s largest and most vibrant cities, has taken a vital step towards combating air pollution by introducing a mandatory Emissions Testing System. This initiative, led by the Environment Protection Department (EPA) Punjab, aims to reduce harmful emissions from vehicles, which are a major source of pollution in the city.

Emissions Testing Points

To make the process accessible, Lahore has established nine dedicated emissions testing booths at key points throughout the city. These locations include:

  • Mall Road, Istanbul Chowk, Town Hall Parking
  • Lake City, Al-Kabir Town, Raiwind Road
  • Kahna, Patwaar Khana, LDA Road, Gajumata
  • DHA, Packages Mall

These booths are equipped with modern emission testing technology designed to provide quick, reliable results, making the process efficient for vehicle owners.

The government is offering free emission testing for an entire month to encourage vehicle owners to comply. This is a great opportunity for residents to get their vehicles checked and certified without any financial burden, promoting environmental responsibility across the city.

Timings

Amid the ongoing heatwave in the city, the provincial government has announced the timings of these emission testing centres:

How to Participate?

Vehicle owners can visit any of the designated testing points with their vehicles for inspection. For additional support and information, the EPA Punjab has launched a helpline (1373) and the Green Punjab App, which provides updates and assistance related to emissions testing.

Why it is Crucial?

Vehicles running on petrol and diesel release dangerous pollutants such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter. These pollutants not only degrade air quality but also pose severe health risks, including respiratory illnesses and cardiovascular diseases. Regular emissions testing ensures that vehicles meet environmental standards and helps identify those that emit excessive pollutants, requiring repair or regulation.

Visit your nearest emissions testing booth today! Ensure your vehicle meets standards and be part of Lahore’s clean air movement.
