Alto Outsold Corolla/Yaris & Civic/City combined
Car sales witnessed a severe blow after automakers announced production cuts and booking suspensions one after the other. All the fuss started when the State Bank of Pakistan refused to approve the Letter of Credit (LCs).
Where the favorite cars (Corolla, Yaris, Civic, City) of petrol heads observed a massive drop last month, Alto’s fever is still Alive.
As per PAMA monthly report (July), Suzuki Alto sales have surpassed the combined sales of Corolla/Yaris and Civic/City.
The report has revealed that Alto sales stood at 4,618 units against 4,142 units of Toyota and Honda vehicles. Therefore, Alto has won the badge of best-selling car seventh time in a row.

Reason
PSMC records high sales of Alto even when the industry is passing through crucial times, and there are several reasons for this. Burgeoning fuel prices and the growing inflation have urged people to opt for a car with the best fuel average.
Secondly, a small car is also the best option for city commuting. Moreover, this vehicle is favorable for ride-hailing services and is famous among students and middle-income families.
Decrease in Price
After the dollar rate depreciated and the Rupee resuscitated, automakers embarked on announcing a drop in car prices. After Toyota, Pak Suzuki also reduced its car prices.
The new prices are applicable from August 16, 2022.
Suzuki Alto
The new price of Suzuki Alto in Pakistan is:
- After a reduction of Rs. 90,000 the base variant, Alto VX, will now cost Rs. 1,699,000. The car’s old price was Rs. 1,789,000.
- The mid-variant Alto VXR has observed a decrease of Rs. 103,000, taking the price to Rs. 1,976,000 from previous Rs. 2,079,000.
- And the top-of-the-line variant, Alto AGS, has seen a drop of Rs. 116,000. It will now cost Rs. 2,223,000 against last price of Rs. 2,339,000.
