And Now….No Vaccine, No Driving License

After making COVID-19 vaccination essential for traveling on Motorway and for getting petrol, now it is driving license’s turn. The Lahore Traffic Police have made the vaccination a must for getting new driving license. As per twitter handle of the force, Chief Traffic Police (CTO) Lahore Muntazir Mehdi has made the decision for safety of citizens.

“No driving license for unvaccinated people,” the police said, adding only vaccinated citizens will get the license. According to reports, the police will send the CNIC number of candidate on 1166 to check the status of his/her vaccination. “The unvaccinated candidate will not be entertained,” the police stated.

The government is taking these steps to control the third wave of COVID-19 in Pakistan. Last week, different petrol pumps in metropolitan placed the notices reading there will be no petrol for unvaccinated people from September 1, 2021. “Only the people with Corona Vaccine Certificate will get petrol,” the notification read.

No Vaccine, No Motorway

Two weeks ago, the National Highway Authority announced that you would not be able to travel on the motorway if you are not vaccinated for COVID-19 by September 15, 2021. The NHA made this announcement through a social media post. “Get Ready! Get vaccinated before September 15 and carry your certificate along,” the post read.

The authority further said: “Sorry! No Vaccine, No Motorway.”

Meanwhile, people travelling on highways need to get their first vaccine shot before September 30 and the second dose by October 30. Last week the government expanded the vaccination for youngsters of 15-16 years old. Furthermore, the government is now offering specific vaccination for specific countries for travel abroad. Talking to the press, Dr Sultan, the de facto health minister, stated that the government would charge minimal for these special doses.

Meanwhile, the government has also announced a deadline for air travel. As per Asad Umar, no unvaccinated individual will be allowed air travel after September 30.
