As part of the Chief Minister’s Transport Vision 2030, the Punjab government has officially expanded its eco-friendly public transport network to Bahawalpur. This initiative, spearheaded by CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, aims to revolutionize urban mobility by introducing a fleet of modern electric buses to the city.

Free Travel for Students and Seniors

In a major relief for the public, the provincial government has integrated a social welfare component into the service. Students and senior citizens in Bahawalpur can now benefit from free travel facilities on these electric buses.

By using the TCash Card system, eligible passengers can access seamless, economical mobility, ensuring that quality transport is inclusive and accessible to all segments of society.

This initiative follows the successful implementation of similar subsidized models in other major districts, aimed at easing families’ financial burden amid rising fuel costs.

Expanding the Green Footprint

After a series of successful rollouts in 14 cities across the province, the arrival of electric buses in Bahawalpur marks a significant milestone in Punjab’s transition toward sustainable energy.

These buses are designed to provide a clean, noise-free, and smart commuting experience, significantly reducing the city’s public transport sector’s carbon footprint.

This move aligns with the broader Punjab Clean Air Program, which focuses on combating smog and environmental degradation through the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs).

Modern Infrastructure and Smart Mobility

The new electric buses are equipped with air conditioning, comfortable seating, and smart tracking systems to ensure passenger safety and convenience. To support the fleet, the government is also establishing dedicated charging stations and bus stops across key routes in Bahawalpur to maintain high operational efficiency.

By prioritizing “Smart Mobility,” the administration is not just providing a ride but is building a tech-integrated transport framework that connects urban centers with suburban areas more effectively.
