BMW’s New 7 Series Is Here With Neue Klasse-Inspired Design
Earlier today, we reported the spy shots of the camouflaged facelifted BMW 7 Series, and just hours later, BMW officially pulled the wraps off the new 2027 7 Series.
It is a major facelift of the current flagship sedan, with BMW describing it as one of the most extensive updates ever given to the 7 Series.
Neue Klasse Influence
The updated model is the first BMW luxury car to adopt Neue Klasse technologies. That brings a fresh design direction, a more advanced cabin, improved digital features, and updates across petrol, plug-in hybrid, and electric versions.
Sharper Exterior Design
On the outside, the new 7 Series looks cleaner and more modern. It gets a revised illuminated kidney grille, new two-section headlights, updated taillights, smoother body surfacing, and fresh personalization options, including new 22-inch wheels and BMW Individual finishes.
Bigger Focus on Cabin Tech
Inside, BMW has made bigger changes. The cabin now features BMW Panoramic iDrive, BMW Operating System X, and a new Passenger Screen. Rear passengers continue to get the large 31.3-inch Theatre Screen, while other upgrades include richer ambient lighting, improved seats, new steering wheel designs, and a Bowers and Wilkins audio system with Dolby Atmos.
What’s New Overall
Overall, the facelifted 7 Series brings a more refined design, a more tech-focused interior, and broader upgrades across the lineup, making BMW’s flagship sedan more digital and more luxurious than before.
Trims and models available
At launch, the updated 7 Series will be offered in these main variants:
- BMW 740
- BMW 740 xDrive
- BMW i7 50 xDrive
- BMW i7 60 xDrive
BMW has also confirmed that the 750e xDrive plug-in hybrid will join the range later, while a V8-powered M Performance version is also on the way in 2027.
What is New Mechanically?
The petrol-powered 740 continues with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, but output is now up to 394 horsepower, thanks to revisions including a larger turbocharger. On the electric side, the i7 50 xDrive produces 449 hp, while the i7 60 xDrive makes 536 hp.
The electric models also benefit from BMW’s sixth-generation battery technology, which lifts the i7’s range to over 350 miles in EPA estimates for the i7 60 and cuts the 10 to 80 percent DC fast-charging time to 28 minutes.

BMW gave the new 7 Series its world premiere on April 22, 2026, with simultaneous reveals in Beijing at Auto China 2026 and New York City at Grand Central Terminal.
BMW says production and the worldwide market launch will begin in July 2026. The company has also said that additional variants, including the 750e xDrive, will follow later.
Availability in Pakistan
In Pakistan, Dewan Motors is the official and exclusive importer of BMW vehicles.
So far, Dewan Motors has not announced any launch timeline or availability details for the updated 7 Series.
However, given BMW’s local presence and the fact that the 7 Series already sits at the top end of its sedan lineup, it would not be surprising to see the refreshed model make its way to Pakistan in due course.
