Today we’re back with the owner’s review of a 2015 Toyota Corolla Grande. The 11th generation Corolla came out in October 2014 in several variants starting from XLI and going up to the top-of-the-line Grande variant. This Grande comes with a 2ZR-FE 1.8 liter engine producing close to 140 p and 173 nm of torque, while this was also the first Corolla with a 7-speed CVT transmission.

Purchase Decision

The owner was looking for a brand-new sedan at the time, and he had two options, Corolla and the Civic. He considered both cars, but several reasons backed his decision to opt for the Corolla. Some of these were better features like a CVT gearbox, a softer suspension, and the price. The Civic was priced at over Rs. 2.5 million, while he bought the Grande at an invoice of Rs. 2.3 million.

Salient Features

The Grande came with a considerable amount of features which include standard leather seats, an opti-tron speedometer with a MID, paddle shifters, an infotainment screen, rain-sensing wipers, mild reclining rear seats, cruise control, retractable mirrors, reverse camera, etc. safety features include driver airbag and ABS brakes, immobilizer was added later on.

Fuel Average

Having a 7-speed CVT and a dual-vvti engine, Grande’s average is decent compared to the 1.3-liter variants. The owner gets around 11 km.l within the city with a light foot which goes down to 9 if driven harshly. On highways, the average goes up to 17 km/l if kept at 115 to 120 km/h.

Missing Features

As per the owner, some things could be improved or added. The 15-inch rims were carried forward from the 10th gen Corolla, which looks outdated. Secondly, the side skirts were removed for better ground clearance, which made the car feel slightly raised. Climate control was analogue, while competitors like Civic had digital control. Lastly, the headlights were halogen which the owner thinks is a downside.

Maintenance

The owner maintains the car from a local workshop but gets original parts from Toyota. Including Oil and filters, the maintenance cost lands at 9,000 rupees every 5000 kilometers.
