BYD May Soon Launch Three New PHEVs in Pakistan

BYD has imported demo units of three new plug-in hybrid vehicles to Pakistan, according to our sources.

While the vehicles are currently here for evaluation and demonstration, BYD may eventually launch them in locally assembled form in the near future.

According to the information available so far, the models include:

Model Powertrain Battery Size
Denza B5 PHEV 31.7 kWh
Denza B8 PHEV 36.8 kWh
BYD Sealion 6 PHEV 18.3 kWh

What Is Denza?

Denza is BYD’s premium sub-brand, positioned to compete in the higher-end new-energy vehicle segment.

Originally launched as a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz, the brand is now fully owned by BYD following Mercedes-Benz’s exit from the partnership.

Denza serves as BYD’s upmarket channel, offering larger, more feature-rich, and technology-forward vehicles compared to the main BYD lineup.

In Pakistan, this positioning places Denza above standard BYD models and directly in competition with premium SUVs from established Japanese, German, Korean, and Chinese brands

Local Assembly Launch Expected

The more significant development is that these vehicles are expected to be launched in Pakistan in local assembly, according to insider information.

However, BYD currently does not have active local assembly operations in Pakistan.

The local assembly setup is expected to go live in July–August, after which the company will be ready to produce locally assembled BYD models.

If BYD follows through with local assembly, it could help the brand improve price positioning, parts planning, aftersales confidence, and long-term market presence.

But until the plant is operational and official prices are announced, key details remain subject to change.

Market Impact

Pakistan’s SUV buyers are shifting toward hybrids due to rising fuel costs and import restrictions. PHEVs offer electric-only city driving with petrol backup for longer trips—no range anxiety.

BYD’s three-model launch targets two segments: the Sealion 6 competes in the mainstream crossover market, while Denza B5 and B8 challenge premium SUVs like the Palisade and Tank 500

If local assembly begins in August as expected, BYD could gain a pricing advantage and stronger after-sales credibility, key factors in a market where buyer confidence depends on long-term manufacturer commitment.

Developing Story

This is still a developing story. More details, including the launch timeline, prices, variants, and confirmation of local assembly, are expected in the coming days. We will update once further information is received.
