Toyota To Produce Hydrogen Powered Hilux

Taking another step towards the clean atmosphere, the Japanese automaker Honda is going to produce a Hydrogen Fuel Cell-Powered Hilux. The company has formed a consortium for the purpose. Ricardo, European Thermodynamics Limited (ETL), D2H, and Thatcham Research are the partners of this association, led by Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK (TMUK).

As per the car maker, Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) – an organization that encourages the cleaner technologies and an evolution in automobile sector – has funded the Toyota Motors UK (TMUK) through the UK government. The funding will also nudge the later-stage R&D phase fostering the expansion of prototype cars.

The company has not revealed the details yet, but reports has disclosed that hydrogen tank will be under the cab and rear electric motor would be the major source of power.

Matt Harrison, president, and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe stated:

“The UK is one of the key markets for pick-up trucks and is an important market for Toyota. This funding represents a tremendous opportunity to develop a zero-emission solution in a critical market segment. We would like to thank the UK government for the funding that will enable the consortium to investigate the development of a fuel cell powered powertrain for the Toyota Hilux, supporting our carbon neutrality ambition.”

Electric HR-V With 500+ KM Range

Years after the world auto industry embraced electric car technology; Honda is embarked on adding the electric vehicle to its EV lineup. Recently, the company unveiled the e:NP1 electric version of its crossover SUV – dubbed Honda HR-V. Honda flaunted its new electric SUV at the Thailand International Motor Expo.

Here, Honda’s new Empreinte ‘e:N’ is a newly introduced term in the EV market, where “e” highlights electric (electricity) and energy (power) whilst “N” comes with New (the next evolution). Simply put, a fully electric vehicle mated with Honda’s unique features and specifications.
