New Honda Civic – Variants Comparison

Honda has finally taken the wraps off the latest Civic and revealed its specs and features. We now know what’s the new Civic is all about. Let’s dive into the detailed comparison of the three Honda Civic 2022 variants and see if they are worth the 5 million+ price tags.

Engine

All three Civic variants have a 1.5L turbocharged engine under the hood. This engine produces 127 horsepower and 180 Nm of torque in the Standard and Oriel variants and 176 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque in the RS variant.

The Standard and Oriel variants have Normal and ECON modes. The RS variant also has a Sport mode.

All variants have CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). Honda is calling this transmission M-CVT in Standard and Oriel variants and LL-CVT in the RS variant.  What is the difference between the two? They didn’t explain, but we will.

Internationally, the two CVT versions have slightly different gearing ratios and come with different engine sizes. Honda is offering the lower 2.0L Civic variant with M-CVT and the top 1.5L Civic variant with LL-CVT in the US market. But Honda Pakistan is pairing the different CVT versions with the same engine size.

Exterior

Coming to the exterior parts, the Standard and Oriel Civic variants have halogen projection headlights with manual adjustment. The top-of-the-line RS variant has LED headlights with automatic adjustment. LED DRLs, lens-type rear lights and matte finish black grille are standard in all variants. Fog lights are halogen in the Oriel variant and LED in the RS variant.

The side-view mirrors are electrically retractable in all variants and heated in the top variant. The mirrors also have integrated LED turn indicators.  The Standard and Oriel variants have 16-inch alloy wheels and the RS variant has 17-inch alloy wheels in black. All variants have an alloy spare wheel.

The top-of-the-line Honda Civic RS variant has black painted door mirrors, door handles, antenna, and spoiler. There is an RS emblem at the front and back.

Interior

All three variants have smart keyless entry and the upper two variants also have trunk opener button. Inside the cabin, all variants have engine push start button. The top-of-the-line variant also has remote engine start.

The upper two variants have hi-grade leather seats. The Standard variant has fabric seats that can be upgraded to leather as an option. All three variants have manual seat adjustment. The leather-wrapped steering wheel has tilt and telescopic adjustment in all variants with media and cruise control buttons.

All variants have a 7-inch TFT Multi-Information Display (MID) and analog gauges. The Oriel and RS variants have a 9-inch Android infotainment touchscreen with voice recognition. The Standard variant has a 7-inch Android infotainment touchscreen that can be upgraded to the one in the upper variants.

The base variant has a single-zone automatic climate control system and the upper two variants have a dual-zone automatic climate control system. All variants have rear AC vents.

All variants have electronic parking brake with Auto Brake Hold. The upper two variants have a sunroof. The top-of-the-line RS variant has a black interior with ambient lighting in front doors and feet, paddle shifters, and adaptive cruise control. The base and mid variants have cruise control (not adaptive).

Safety

All three variants have two airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Emergency Brake Distributor), VSC (Vehicle Stability Control), HAC (Hill Assist Control), TC (Traction Control), and Security Alarm.

The top variant has Honda’s exclusive suite of intelligent safety features called the Honda Sensing. The suite includes Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lead Car Departure Notification System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Auto High Beam. 

Price

The price of base Civic variant is Rs. 51 lacs, that of mid Civic Oriel variant is Rs. 54 lacs, and top Civic RS variant is Rs. 61.5 lacs
