Close-up of US version 2014 Toyota Corolla S
By now the whole automotive world from East to West knows in depth about the 11th Generation Corolla, released this June. Every Corolla fan knows what is coming up in the new generation. I had an opportunity to personally see the car at a local showroom here.
To be honest Toyota did an awesome job with the new looks inside out and ground up. Most automotive experts thinks everything is same under the skin with very minor changes. But this is reality that the new shape will attract the new buyers, specially the younger buyers. I saw a L/LE trims as well but the S trim feel more premium inside comparatively.
Mechanically the S trim will be with 1.8-Liter 4-Cylinder DOHC 16-Valve with Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i); 132 hp @ 6000 rpm, 128 lb.-ft. @ 4400 rpm. A push of a button is all you need to get every drop of excitement out of Corolla S with CVT transmission. Once Sport Mode is enabled, the Engine Control Unit and simulated shift points are changed to enable a sportier feel.
The US version Corolla will come with LED low beam as standard with LED DRL. Integrated backup camera as well as 8 airbags are standard across all trim levels. The S premium trim comes with 8 way electronically adjustable driver seat. The 60/40 split rear seats on Corolla make it easy to transform the space to fit more cargo.
Corolla will come with 6.1″ radio/nav system with Etune app for cell phone integration for music and Bluetooth calling. The customizable Multi-Information Display with 3.5-in. TFT screen lets you monitor important information, like current/average fuel economy and estimated cruise range. Overall the new corolla feels and looks much improved aesthetically and for sure Toyota gets full marks for their bestselling sedan all over the world.
