Corvette Z06 Blows Up After Just 6 Miles!

The new Chevrolet Corvette Z06, a favourite among track enthusiast’s, and its easy to see why at a starting price of just $US 80,000 you get a 6.2 litre supercharged V8 engine that churns out an astonishing 650bhp that’s give or take about the same power you get from a Ferrari 488 GTB. It goes from 0-60mph in just 3.0 seconds, with a top speed of almost 200mph and all this at a fraction of the price of the 488, and it’s not like they skimped on anything. You get everything else, like carbon fibre body work, all the toys inside such as electric seats and a navigation system and probably the best thing about the whole car, you can have a 7-speed manual gearbox.

Piece of a piston and the engine block

Though customers have recently been reporting various mechanical issues with the Z06 and the latest one to spring up is of a man who was driving his brand new Corvette Z06 straight home from the dealership but he never made it home and after just registering 6 miles on the milometer, he began to hear a loud knocking sound as he describes it and before he knew it the engine quite literally began to explode with bits of engine spurting out from all over the car such as the piston pictured above that went through the block of the engine; not good publicity for Chevrolet. More details are yet to emerge as to exactly what went wrong with this particular Chevrolet Corvette Z06 engine after just 6 miles!
