Emflux One: India making super bikes now?

0 541

I have always been astonished by the fact that our neighboring country enjoys a wide diversity of cars and bikes, the kind of which we the people of Pakistan droll over. Now seeing other countries get better cars and bikes at a cheaper price isn’t something new to me. Surfing on the internet lately I came across this video about a startup in India set to release an all-electric superbike and they already have a fully develop concept model which happens to be the coolest bike I have ever seen. Known as the Emflux one, an Indian made electric superbike which the company calls the “Future” because according to them it’s way ahead of its time. Plus it’s also a big deal for because India has actually never made a superbike let alone an electric one.

Emflux is a Bangalore based company and it started as a startup around 3 years back and their “ONE” takes a lot of design cues from the KTM RC8. The vertical headlamp in front gives it a cutting edge design theme which actually cuts the full fairing of this bike into half. And once again the raised tail section looks a lot similar to the KTM RC8.

But that’s the exterior components so let’s talk about all those things which makes Emflux eccentric. First, there is an electric motor which outputs a good 72HP and 84 N.M of torque and though it might not sound much but consider that according to Emflux the production version will just weight around 169kg and couple that with the instant torque of its electric motor. It will surely be bone shattering quick. And how quick exactly? Well according to the company 0-100 will come 3s flat whereas pining the throttle will take you to a top speed of 200km/h. Aside from this impressive performance company also equipped this masterpiece with the right tech and with that comes Ohlins suspension for a balanced ride and Brembo brakes for the right stopping power. But the real deal here is the 50kg battery pack which is housed where normally there’s a fuel tank of the bike.

“Battery is composed of 896 cylindrical 18650 cells. This is what enables us to get so much performance out of our bike.” Varrun Mital

For reference, this high-performance battery can charge 0-80% in just 36 minutes and is good for around 200km in a single charge which is more than most electric cars on road. But take this claim with a grain of salt since this is currently a claim by Emflux and not proven by a real-world test. And in the end, comes the price of this machine. Which Emflux says will cost around 6 lakh INR or 12 Lakh PKR. While that is not affordable by any means but to see such technology come out our neighboring country still astonishes me a lot and whereas in Pakistan we have yet to see even a 50cc engine fully designed and manufactured in Pakistan.
