Expected Price for the Changan UNI-S in Pakistan: Here’s What We Know
The Pakistani auto market has just welcomed a new contender, the Changan UNI-S.
Boasting what the brand describes as a “fluid motion” design language, generous C-segment dimensions, and a host of advanced technologies, the SUV seems to win the hearts of buyers looking for a 1.5-liter turbo petrol SUV, till they know the price.
For now, this is a preview or unveiling only. The UNI-S is not yet open for bookings, and while Changan has been generous in sharing its technical specifications with us, it has kept a lid on the final price.
However, even without the official numbers, a look at the SUV’s positioning gives us enough clues to anticipate where it will fit in the market.
The Expected Price Bracket
According to the brand’s presentation, Changan’s pricing strategy for the UNI-S looks attractive.
We expect the vehicle to be priced between Rs 75 lakh to Rs 85 lakh.
Market Analysis
The UNI-S is entering the fiercely contested C-segment SUV market with a turbo-petrol engine. Historically, pricing is one of the most critical factors in determining a vehicle’s success in this category.
Given the trend among Chinese auto brands to consistently offer strong value for money, it is highly likely that Changan will launch the UNI-S with a very competitive price tag to capture market share.
The Competition
The rivals for the UNI-S will be the Jetour X70 Plus and the Haval Jolion (non-HEV). The MG HS (non-PHEV) was also a competitor, but it has since been discontinued.
Currently, the Jetour X70 Plus is priced at Rs 83 lacs while the Haval Jolion sits at Rs 79 lacs. Above this price range, the market shifts toward Hybrid (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) options.
To compete with its rivals, an introductory price bracket of Rs 75-85 lacs might position the Changan UNI-S as a viable option for buyers.
