Honda Civic 2022 is coming to Pakistan within next couple of weeks, as different sources are saying different things about its possible launch. Some say it will be launched on February 24th, while some claim that it will come sometime during first two weeks of March, 2022. So, the wait is on and fingers are crossed.
Meanwhile, keeping its teaser series continue, Honda Atlas has introduced another feature in upcoming sedan. And this time it is Smart Card Key. Now, many of you have asked about this option and how it works. So, here is a brief explanation about this card, how it works, what are its benefits and what are disadvantages.
Honda Civic 2022 Smart Card Key
It is also called Digital Key and it is currently available in Thailand and Indonesia. This Smart Key is quite similar to your Key Fob/Keyless entry. It means, if this card is in your pocket, you can enter in the car by simply opening the door and then start it by pressing Push/Start button. In short, you don’t have to use any key for these functions.
It has same functions as Key Fob but it is in shape of a card and its size is similar to your CNIC card. Furthermore, its thickness is around 3-4millimeters which is equal to thickness of two credit cards.
The biggest benefit of this card is that you can place it in your wallet unlike Key Fob. It is pertinent to mention that this is not a new technology as it has been offered in a number of Japanese cars and it is a good thing that Honda Atlas is offering it in Pakistan.
Lastly, like Key Fob, this card also has space for a conventional key in it. You just have to pull the top part of the card and key will come out.
Downside
The downside of this card is that it has limited functionality. With your Key Fob you can lock/unlock your car from a specific distance, can start car in some cases and control car windows but smart card doesn’t offer these benefits and you have to be near the car to use it.
This card is just for entry and starting the car and that is it. And you have to keep a key fob with you along with this card, so it is kind of a redundancy.
