Free Electric Bikes Announced for Intermediate Board Toppers
KARACHI – The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi has announced a major incentive for high-achieving students of government colleges: electric bikes.
Chairman Faqir Muhammad Lakho stated that the awards are part of the Prime Minister’s initiative to promote electric vehicles and support deserving youth.
The initiative also includes academic assistance. The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA) will grant full scholarships to position holders, enabling them to pursue higher education without financial burden.
A special ceremony is being prepared where:
- Position holders will receive their electric bikes.
- Parents and education dignitaries will be invited.
- Scholarships will formally be announced.
Officials confirmed that the bikes are already in Karachi and ready for distribution. The program will be held every year until 2030.
The effort ties into a nationwide plan announced earlier by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Under this scheme:
- 100,000 electric bikes will go to top students across Pakistan.
- 3,000 electric rickshaws and loaders will be handed to unemployed citizens.
Authorities say the dual purpose of the initiative is to reward merit and promote eco-friendly transport solutions across the country.
