Geely’s New PHEV SUV Is Heading to Pakistan, Here’s What It Offers
PakWheels earlier reported that Bestway is bringing three Geely models to Pakistan: the EX2 hatchback, the EX5 SUV, and the Starray, a plug-in hybrid. Having already covered the EX2, this piece looks at the Starray.
What Is the Geely Starray?
The Geely Starray EM-i is a plug-in hybrid SUV.
It uses the same design as the electric EX5, so the two cars look almost identical from the outside, but the Starray runs on a petrol engine paired with a battery and electric motor instead of running on electricity alone.
It competes in the crossover SUV segment, currently Pakistan’s most popular category for PHEV powertrains, since almost all plug-in hybrids on sale are crossover SUVs.

It is also on sale in Australia and New Zealand, South Africa, where it is called the E5 EM-i, and Mexico, in addition to its home market presence in China.
Pakistan will now become the latest entry on that list.
How It Compares To Its Rivals In Pakistan
The Starray will most likely go up against the Haval H6 PHEV and the Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV, since all three share the same PHEV powertrain, crossover SUV body style, and country of origin, putting them in competition for the same buyer.
