Get Free M-Tag – Avoid Extra Toll on Cash Payment From 1st February

National Highway Authority (NHA) and ONE Network (which handles cashless toll systems on motorways) have announced a free registration of M-Tag for your car. In a new campaign, the authority has urged the vehicle owners to “get free  M-Tag” to avoid issues in the coming months.

It is pertinent to mention that M-Tag is an electronic toll collection system introduced in Pakistan for motorways to facilitate smooth and efficient toll payments. It uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, enabling vehicles to pass through toll plazas without the need for cash transactions.

Extra Toll on Cash Payment 

Furthermore, NHA has requested commuters to “travel with good balance” in their M-Tag account because there will be an extra toll on cash transactions from February 1, 2025. So, if you are planning or regularly traveling on motorways, get your M-Tag in a timely manner and avoid any problems.

How to Get an M-Tag

To get an M-Tag, visit the authorized M-Tag issuance center or toll plaza with the mentioned documents and have a hassle-free journey on motorways across the country:

• Vehicle registration documents.
• Owner’s CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card).
• Mobile phone number.
• Pay the initial amount to load the prepaid balance (minimum amounts vary).

The NHA has been urging commuters to get M-Tag for their cars because traffic congestion at the different toll plazas, especially on significant motorways like M2 (Lahore-Islamabad), is quite an issue and results in a waste of a lot of time. The M-Tag benefits include:
