The transformative move aims to completely eradicate the rigid, static countdown timers that often cause artificial bottlenecks, replacing them with a system that thinks, adapts, and reacts to real-time traffic volume.

According to a detailed report, the initiative was meticulously reviewed during a high-level progress meeting chaired by Director General Safe City and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic, Muhammad Haroon Joiya.
The collaborative session brought together technical heads from Safe City, the Capital Development Authority (CDA), and One Network (Private) Limited.
Instead of operating on fixed schedules, these new intelligent signals leverage high-definition cameras and deep-learning AI algorithms to actively monitor vehicle density.
If one lane experiences a sudden influx of traffic during rush hour while an opposing lane sits empty, the AI system dynamically extends the green light to clear the congestion, drastically reducing idling times and unnecessary fuel wastage.
