Government Approves Import of Commercial Used Cars up to 5 Years Old

Islamabad: The Ministry of Finance has permitted the commercial import of used vehicles up to five years old until June 30, 2026, with the age cap to be removed thereafter, according to the decisions of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).

The duty will be reduced every year, as per the following process:

• Imported used cars up to five years old will face an additional 40% regulatory duty, in addition to normal customs duty, until June 2026.

• After June 2026, the extra 40% regulatory duty on imported used cars will drop by 10 percentage points each year:

  • 2026–27: 30%

  • 2027–28: 20%

  • 2028–29: 10%

  • 2029–30: 0% (no extra regulatory duty)

Regular customs duty will still apply throughout.

The committee also decided that all imported vehicles must comply with environmental and safety standards.
