The government of Pakistan has announced to provide a petrol subsidy of Rs. 50/L for low-income people having motorcycles, rickshaws, and cars of up to 800cc.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting in Lahore regarding the suggested relief package for petroleum users.

In addition to motorcycles and rickshaws, the Prime Minister ordered that cars with displacements of up to 800cc be included in the subsidized petrol scheme. The government intends to subsidize the price of petrol by Rs. 50 per liter, significantly lowering the price for the subsidized section.

The prime minister ordered the relevant authorities to expedite the proposed program’s implementation and directed stakeholders to develop an extensive plan in this regard.

The premier stated that motorcycles, rickshaws, and smaller vehicles are used by the common man and that the subsidy will benefit the poor.

It is worth noting that the government has yet to declare specifics about how this petrol subsidy will actually be applied.
