Govt Sets Deadline for Employees to Obtain Driving Licenses
ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has rolled out a targeted campaign to ensure that government employees obtain valid driving licenses, announcing strict action against violators once the initiative concludes on September 26.
The special drive, which started on Wednesday, will remain in effect for nine days. To facilitate the process, licenses are being issued not only at ITP offices but also through mobile service vans dispatched across the city.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Capt. (retd) Hamzah Humayun stated that the move was prompted after enforcement teams discovered numerous employees at the Secretariat Blocks operating vehicles and motorcycles without licenses during anti-encroachment efforts aimed at addressing illegal parking.
He emphasized that government workers must set an example for the broader public by following traffic laws themselves.
“All available resources have been dedicated to license issuance during this period,” the CTO stated, warning that employees driving without valid licenses after September 26 would face legal consequences without exception.
The ITP has urged government staff to take advantage of the campaign immediately to avoid penalties, reiterating that the deadline will not be extended.
