Haval H6 1.5 Turbo (2025 Facelift): A Deep Dive Review

258

In this PakWheels Peer Review, Suneel Munj sits down with Pakwheels colleague Mr. Nasir to discuss his long-term experience with the 2025 Haval H6 1.5 Turbo Facelift.

The conversation explores why this specific variant, once a slow seller in its pre-facelift form, has now captured the lion’s share of the market with a booking backlog of five to six months.

The Strategy Behind Its Success

The real “secret sauce” for the 2025 model seems to be Sazgar’s refreshing approach to the Pakistani market when it comes to facelift.

While we’re used to seeing local manufacturers hike prices every time they change a bumper or a light, Sazgar did something different:

They rolled out a significant facelift with high-quality beam lighting and those distinctive elongated rear fog lamps, all while keeping the price steady.

Mr. Nasir pointed out that this isn’t just about looks; the fog lamps are a game-changer for low-visibility conditions during Pakistan’s intense winter months.

To top it off, the company has offered a staggering one-million-kilometer warranty on the drivetrain and engine. Suneel remarks that GWM’s bold statement of confidence has clearly struck a chord with buyers.

Why the H6? The Road to Decision

Before moving to the Haval, Mr. Nasir was driving a 2020 Kia Sportage (FWD). When it came time to upgrade, he wanted to stay in the crossover category. However, he didn’t just jump into the H6; he did his homework.

He looked at the Changan Oshan X7 but found the interior felt a bit too “cramped” because of the 7-seater layout.

He also considered the MG HS, but it just didn’t have that same aggressive road presence he was looking for.

Ultimately, he chose the H6 because it offered the best “bang for your buck.”

Here’s what stood out to him:

  • The Clear Chassis View: A 540-degree camera system that lets you see through the car, perfect for dodging open manholes or deep potholes in old city areas.
  • Modern Connectivity: A seamless, lag-free experience with a 50W wireless charger and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
  • Adaptability: While the Adaptive Cruise is a dream on the motorway, he did mention that the Auto-Braking system can be a bit “over-eager” in chaotic city traffic.

Feature Analysis and Technological Integration

The Haval H6 is packed with modern tech, though some features are better suited for local conditions than others.

The 540-degree camera with a “clear chassis” view is particularly praised for its ability to navigate narrow urban streets and avoid potholes.

Inside, the 50W wireless charger and seamless wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration provide a modern, lag-free experience.

While the Adaptive Cruise Control is a favorite for motorway travel, the Auto-Braking (collision avoidance) can be somewhat intrusive in dense, erratic traffic.

One notable omission the owner highlighted was the absence of a Head-Up Display (HUD) and electric adjustment for the passenger seat, both of which remain exclusive to higher variants.

Performance, Fuel Economy, and Maintenance

For a vehicle in this segment, the performance is described as premium rather than “cheap.” Mr. Nasir, who monitors his finances closely, noted that the fuel economy is comparable to his previous Sportage, delivering 7–8 km/L in city traffic and 12–13 km/L on the highway at 120 km/h with A/C.

He noted that the driving experience can be customized significantly; switching to “Sports Mode” firms up the steering, providing a more controlled and luxury-oriented feel on long journeys.

Cost and Maintenance Category Estimated Figure
10,000 KM Service Bill PKR 25,000
Operational Cost PKR 5 per Kilometer
Registration Cost PKR 225,000
Annual Token Tax PKR 16,000+

Final Verdict: Is the Hype Justified?

To close out the conversation, Suneel asked the million-dollar question: Is the social media hype actually justified?

Mr. Nasir’s answer was a resounding yes. He loves the fact that even with the front seats pushed all the way back, a 6-foot passenger can still sit comfortably in the rear.

Even with newer Plug-in Hybrids (PHEVs) and Range Extended Electric Vehicles (REEVs) hitting the market, he still feels the H6 1.5 Turbo is the champion of the 1 Crore price bracket.

It’s a sophisticated, spacious, and well-supported SUV that feels like it belongs in the modern era.
