Today we’re back with the owner’s review of the 2022 Honda City 1.2 CVT. Honda launched the new City in 2021 in 5 variants. While globally, the 7th generation has been launched, Honda Atlas decided to launch the 6th generation city, which came in 2017 in international markets. This particular car is the entry-level variant with a 4-cylinder 1.2-liter engine producing 88 hp and 110 nm of torque. This engine is configured with a 5-speed manual transmission, while a CVT is also offered.

Purchase Decision

The owner was driving a 2010 corolla previously and wanted to upgrade to a new model. Fuel average was also a concern as the 1.3 corolla was not very efficient in fuel consumption. He considered the Yaris but opted for the City due to a better drive and improved quality. He bought the car at an invoice price of 27.30 lacs.

Salient Features

Although this is the base variant, the car has some handy features, including dual airbags, ABS, steering multimedia controls, retractable mirrors, height adjustable seats, front DRLs, and a 7-inch infotainment system.

Fuel Average

Being a manual transmission, the owner gets an impressive fuel average from the City with 14.5 to 15 km/l within City and 18 to 19 km/l on the highway if driven at 120 km/h.

Storage space

In the interior, the City has sufficient spaces for storing items, including cup holders, glove boxes, and door compartments. The major highlight is the boot space which is class-leading with 510 liters of capacity, making it quite a spacious car for luggage.

Drawbacks

The owner feels that the sound quality of the stereo is very poor. Although the car has space for 4 speakers and 4 tweeters, only 2 speakers are installed in the front doors. Another drawback is the infotainment system which is very small and dated and does not have a company-fitted reverse camera. The owner also misses rear ac vents which he thinks should have been standard across all variants.

Legroom

One of the plus points of the City is its leg space which is a major improvement from the last generation. It has plenty of room in the rear, probably resulting from a limited front seat adjustment.

Maintenance and Registration Cost

The owner maintains the car from a local workshop which costs him around 2000 rupees, excluding oil cost. The owner registered the car for Rs. 72000.
