Honda HR-V VTi S vs. Peugeot 2008 Allure – A Comparison

Honda HR-V is the latest addition in the crossover SUV market of Pakistan in two variants, i.e., VTi and VTi S. The top-of-the-line variant is VTi S so we thought to compare it with its first direct competitor, Peugeot 2008 Allure, which is also top variant and  both cars are from B segment.

Dimensions 

The Honda HR-V is 171 inches long, 71 inches wide and 63 inches high. In comparison, Peugeot 2008 is 169 inches long, 70 inches wide and 61 inches high. This means that HR-V is longer and wider than its competitor but less in height.

Engine and Transmission 

Honda has launched its crossover with 1500cc naturally aspirated engine generating 121hp and 145Nm of torque, compared to 1200cc turbo engine which produces 130hp and 230Nm of torque. Hence, the latter is more powerful than the newly launched vehicle.

Last but not least, HR-V is launched with CVT transmission against 6-speed automatic in 2008, giving an edge to the Honda’s car.

Exterior 

The front and rear lights in HR-V are LED, while 2008 is offering 3-claw full LED headlights and LED backlights. Meanwhile, both crossovers have 17-inch alloy wheels.

Both cars come with smart keyless entry and push start option.

Interior

The HR-V has been launched with 4.2 inches MID display compared to 10.3 inches 3D cluster. If we compare the infotainment system, Honda’s vehicle has 9-inch screen with Android and Apple CarPlay multimedia against 7-inch multimedia in Peugeot’s car.

Coming to air conditioner, HR-V has dual zone climate control, while 2008 has auto climate control in it. However, HR-V is coming with rear AC vents which are not offered in its competitor. Both cars have driver + passenger manual seat adjustment option.

The additional features in 2008 are panoramic sunroof, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS),

Safety Features 

If we compare the safety features, Peugeot 2008 has a slight edge on HR-V. The additional features in 2008 are cruise control, electronic stability program(ESP),  hydraulic brake assist System (HBA), lane keep assist (LKA),  driver attention alert(DAA3), rear parking sensors  and 6 airbags compared to 4 in HR-V.

Meanwhile, HR-V has front + rear cameras against only rear in 2008.

Price 

The price of newly launched Honda HR-V Rs. 6,199,000, compared to Rs. 6,100,000, meaning Peugeot 2008 is a bit lower in price.
