How to Clean Car Radiator at Home- PakWheels Tips

We are here with a very informative article, which is very important for car maintenance, especially in summers. Today, we will tell you how you can clean car radiator yourself at home and tackle the issue of heat up. We will share simple steps with you so you can clean the radiator easily and without taking it to the workshop.

So, follow these steps and make your car’s engine healthier.

Step-1

If your car is an older one and you use water as the coolant, then the car’s radiator will be extremely rusty. Coolants are basically anti-rust formulas, and they save engine parts from rust. Before starting the process, make sure that the engine is cooled down because you have to remove the water, clean it and then fill it with the coolant.

But before filling it with coolant, we have to flush the water from the engine, and for that, we have Lion Car Radiator Flush Rust Remover.

Step -2

Pour the radiator flush to start the process, start the car, and keep filling the radiator with the flush. You will see bubbles coming out and once it is completely filled, put the radiator cap back on. Keep the engine on for 10-15 minutes on idle.

If your car has a thermostat valve, you must remove it mechanically. However, in some vehicles, it is already removed.

Step-3

Once the engine’s temperature is optimized, and the fan is automatically switched off, you are ready to drain out the water for the first round. Always check the temperature from the pressure pipe because water will be at a boiling temperature, so be very careful. Wait for it to cool down a bit, open the lower pipe with a screwdriver, and let it drain completely.

Once it is drained, start pouring the tap water into the radiator and keep doing it till the draining water becomes clean. After it happens, plug the pipe again and get ready for round two (if needed). And repeat the whole process.

Step-4

Now it’s the coolant’s turn; there are two types of coolants in the market, i.e., concentrated and pre-mixed. The latter one is ready to use, while the first ones are in raw form, and you mix distilled water in them after buying them. We will recommend pre-mixed coolant. You need to fill the radiator completely, and it can take 3-4 bottles.

Pour the coolant slowly, and once the coolant starts to reach the top level, start the car so that it runs through the whole engine. Once the radiator is topped up, close the lid and keep the remaining coolant in your trunk because you need to top it up once again after a couple of days, and then it will settle down in the engine.

Now your car has moved from water to coolant, and its rust is completely drained. We hope this article is helpful for you and now you can clean car radiator at home.
