How to Pay Punjab Token Tax Online via the ePay Punjab App (2026)
Punjab vehicle owners can now pay their annual token tax online through the ePay Punjab app without visiting an excise office.
For FY2026-27, Punjab has also revised token tax rates for vehicles above 1000cc, so do not rely on last year’s amount. The app will show your current payable amount directly from the Excise Department system.
Pay before August 31, 2026, to get the 10% token tax rebate.
Here’s the exact step-by-step process.
Step 1: Download and Open the App

Download ePay Punjab from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. It’s developed by the Government of Punjab and also handles traffic challans, property tax, and vehicle registration fees. Open the app on your home screen.

Step 2: Go to the Excise & Taxation Department

On the app’s home screen, tap Departments, then select Excise & Taxation Department. You’ll see a grid of services including Token Tax, Transfer of Motor Vehicle, Property Tax, Professional Tax, and Motor Vehicle Registration. Tap Token Tax.
Step 3: Enter Your Vehicle Registration Number

You’ll land on the Vehicle Details screen. Type your registration number (e.g., LEA-1234) into the search bar and tap the search icon. The app pulls up your vehicle’s record: owner name, father’s name, make, model, color, and the date your token tax is paid up to.
Step 4: Review Your Tax Details

Scroll down to see the full tax breakdown:
- Motor Vehicle Tax: The base amount
- Income Tax: Applicable to non-filers or certain vehicle categories
- Professional Tax
- Rebate: Automatically applied as a negative amount if you’re paying before the discount deadline
- Government Platform Charges: A small fixed service fee (currently Rs. 15)
These add up to your Token Tax Due, shown at the bottom in a red “Payment Due” box.
Step 5: Generate Your Challan

Tap Generate Challan. The app creates a unique 17-digit PSID (Payment Slip ID) tied to your vehicle and the exact amount due. You’ll also receive an email confirmation from ePay Punjab with the same PSID and the same amount breakdown.
Note the PSID’s expiry date and time; it’s usually valid for a few days, after which you’ll need to regenerate it.
Step 6: Choose How to Pay
On the PSID screen, tap Pay Now to pay instantly within the app, or scroll down for alternative methods:
- ATM: Visit any 1Link member bank ATM, insert your card, select Bill Payment > GoPb, enter your 17-digit PSID, and confirm.
- Internet/Mobile Banking: Log into your bank’s app, go to Bill Payment > GoPb, enter the PSID, and submit.
- 1Link Member Bank Branch: Take a printed PSID to any branch teller and ask them to pay it under GoPb.
- JazzCash or Zindigi: Tap Pay Now to be redirected to wallet-based payment options directly through the app.
Whichever method you use, the due amount is fetched automatically once the PSID is entered; you just confirm and pay.
Step 7: Confirm Payment
Once payment goes through, you’ll get a success message and a receipt. Your vehicle’s record updates almost immediately, and the “Token Paid Upto” date on the Vehicle Details screen moves forward by a year.

Punjab Token Tax Rates Changed for FY2026-27
Punjab has revised token tax rates for vehicles above 1000cc.
| Vehicle Category | Previous Rate | New FY2026-27 Rate |
| 1000cc to 2000cc | 0.2% of invoice value | 0.3% of invoice value |
| Above 2000cc | 0.3% of invoice value | 0.4% of invoice value |
This is why your payable amount may be higher than last year.
Commercial Vehicle Token Tax Rates
Commercial vehicles have also seen a major increase for FY2026-27.
| Commercial Vehicle Category | Previous Annual Token Tax | New FY2026-27 Token Tax | Increase |
| Laden capacity above 4,060 kg and up to 8,120 kg | Rs2,200 | Rs6,600 | Rs4,400 |

Electric Vehicle Token Tax Concession
Electric vehicles get a 99% token tax concession for FY2026-27.
This concession applies to the token tax component. Other charges in the final payable amount may still appear separately, depending on your vehicle record.
Note that this only affects the token tax portion of your bill. Income tax and advance tax, the other two components of your total dues, are unchanged. Electric vehicles get a 99% token tax concession for FY 2026-27.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Entering the wrong registration number
- Using an expired PSID
- Paying after the rebate deadline
- Assuming last year’s tax amount still applies
- Not saving payment proof
- Checking the wrong vehicle record before payment
One Thing to Keep in Mind
Punjab revised several token tax slabs under the 2026-27 budget, so don’t assume last year’s amount still applies. The app always shows your current, correct due amount pulled directly from the Excise Department’s system.
That’s the entire process: no office visits, no paperwork, and payment confirmation within minutes.
We’ll update token tax payment information for other regions in the coming days as well, so stay tuned to the Pakwheels blog.
