7,212

Vehicle token tax for fiscal year 2026-27 is due across Pakistan, and each province has its own online collection system.

The good news? You no longer need to stand in long queues at excise offices. Instead, Punjab, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa let you pay via dedicated apps, while Sindh handles everything through its excise web portal.

Here’s your guide to paying token tax online in Pakistan for 2026-27, region by region.

Why You Shouldn’t Wait to Pay

Every year, the last week before the deadline brings server crashes, app slowdowns, and long bank queues as everyone rushes in at once.

Paying early isn’t just about avoiding stress; it’s also about saving time and money.

The Punjab Excise Department has announced a 10% discount on Motor Vehicle Token Tax for payments made on or before August 31, 2026. Miss it, and you’ll pay full tax plus late payment penalties on top.

Across all provinces, the payment process follows the same basic logic:

  • Generate a PSID (Payment Slip ID), a unique reference number tied to your vehicle and tax amount.
  • Paste your unique PSID number there.
  • Clear your tax through 1Link, your bank’s app, ATM, or over-the-counter banking.

The app or portal differs by region, but the PSID-then-pay method stays the same.

Punjab: ePay Punjab App

Punjab vehicle owners pay through the ePay Punjab App, developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).

Open the app, enter your vehicle registration number, and it pulls up your due token tax and any pending fines. Generate your PSID in the app and pay via mobile banking, internet banking, or at an ATM.

Punjab also revised its token tax slabs in the 2026-27 budget, so the amounts for several engine categories are higher than last year; worth checking before you assume last year’s figure still applies.

Pay before August 31, 2026, to lock in the 10% rebate.

Islamabad/Federal: Pak App (ONE App) or City Islamabad App

Islamabad’s token tax structure changed significantly this year. Under the Finance Act 2026, the old flat engine-capacity rates have been replaced by an invoice-value-based system for anything above 1,000cc:

Engine Capacity Token Tax
Up to 1,000cc Rs. 20,000 (flat)
1,001cc – 1,500cc 0.25% of invoice value
1,501cc – 2,000cc 0.25% of invoice value
2,001cc – 2,500cc 0.35% of invoice value
Above 2,500cc 0.35% of invoice value

This means 1000cc+ cars , cars now pay noticeably more than under the old system, while small cars are locked into a fixed Rs. 20,000..

To pay, download the Government of Pakistan’s ONE App (by NITB) or the City Islamabad App, sign up with your CNIC, enter your vehicle number to check dues, and generate a PSID. Clear it via 1Link, ATM, or your bank’s app.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Dastak App

KP’s Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department routes its services through the Dastak App, the province’s one-window government services platform.

You can check vehicle details, view dues, and generate a PSID for token tax in the app.

Here’s the catch, though:

If this is your first-ever token tax payment on a vehicle, you’ll need to visit your nearest excise office in person at least once. This is because your tax-filing status must be verified manually before the system can activate online payments for that vehicle.

Once the first payment is recorded, every renewal can be handled entirely through the app — no more office visits needed.

Sindh: Pay Through the Website, Not an App

Unlike the other three regions, Sindh doesn’t currently have a dedicated mobile app for token tax. Instead, everything runs through the Sindh Excise Tax Portal:

Enter your vehicle registration number and mobile number, let the system calculate your dues, and generate your PSID. Pay the same way: via 1Link, at an ATM, or through online banking.

Balochistan: Website-Based, Still Catching Up

Balochistan also handles token tax payments through a website rather than an app. The process mirrors Sindh’s: enter your vehicle details on the portal, let it calculate your dues, and generate a PSID to pay through online banking.

That said, Balochistan’s digital tax infrastructure is still the least developed of the four provinces, and online coverage can be patchy depending on your district.

If the portal doesn’t pull up your vehicle record or you encounter errors when generating a PSID, your nearest excise office is still the reliable fallback, especially if you’re planning to pay right before the deadline.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Paying through the wrong province’s portal
  • Waiting until the last week
  • Entering the wrong registration number
  • Ignoring unpaid arrears
  • Losing PSID before payment
  • Assuming last year’s tax amount still applies
  • Not saving the payment receipt.
  • Using unofficial apps or third-party agents without verification

The Bottom Line

Every province in Pakistan now uses the same PSID-based system for token tax: generate a slip, then pay it through your bank.

The main differences are where you generate the PSID: via an app in Punjab, Islamabad, and KP, or via a website in Sindh. If you’re in KP and this is a brand-new vehicle, budget time for one excise office visit before you can go fully digital.

Whichever province you’re in, don’t wait until the last week. Systems slow down, queues build up, and in Punjab’s case, you’ll actually lose money by missing the August 31 discount window. So sort it now, and you’re covered for the rest of the fiscal year.

Pay your vehicle taxes on time to avoid stress and delays.
