Hyundai Elantra Vs. Honda Civic – A Comparison

As Hyundai Elantra has been launched by Hyundai Nishat Motors in direct competition of Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. In this article, we are going to compare the new sedan with Civic Oriel 1800cc, because it is a direct competition to the Hyundai’s sedan. We are comparing the exterior, interior, engine power, transmission and salient features of both cars.

So, fasten your seatbelts, here is the comparison:

Engine and Transmission: 

Hyundai has launched Elantra with 1999cc engine, which generates 154hp and 195Nm torque. Meanwhile, Civic comes with 1798cc engine, producing 138hp and 169Nm toque. This means that Elantra has bigger engine in size, with more horsepower and torque. Meanwhile, Civic comes with CVT, while Elantra has 6-Speed Automatic Transmission, giving an edge to Honda’s sedan.

Exterior: 

Civic comes with LED headlights, tail lights, DRLs and fog lamps. Meanwhile, Elantra also comes with LED headlights, back lights, and DRLs. Furthermore, both sedans have Auto On/Off timer in the headlights, meaning the headlights will be switched off after few seconds, when you will switch off the engine.

Meanwhile, both sedans come with 16-inch Alloy Wheels, however, Elantra has Alloy spare tyre, while Civic offers Steel Spare tyre.

Interior: 

Both cars have fabric seats, Electronic Power Steering, Push Start Button, and Smart Key Entry. Meanwhile, Elantra comes with 7-inch infotainment screen, while it is optional in Civic, meaning you have to pay extra to get one in your car. Honda’s car has Auto Air Conditioner, while Elantra comes with Dual Zone with Climate Control AC, however, both cars have Rear AC vents.

Civic has Driver Seat with Manual Adjustment, while Elantra offers 8-Way Powered Seat, along with 2-Way Lumbar Support. Furthermore, both cars offer sunroof in them. Elantra has an extra features of Wireless Charger,  and Smart Trunk which makes the phone charging and opening the trunk very easy and convenient, respectively.

Safety: 

Both cars come with 2 airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist, Immobilizer, and Security Alarm, making both cars equally safe and secure. However, Civic offers Emergency Stop Signal, which Elantra doesn’t. Meanwhile, both cars don’t have Parking Sensors. Elantra offers Rear Camera, while in Civic, it is optional.

Price: 

The current price of Honda Civic Oriel is Rs3,979,000, while Hyundai has launched Elantra in Rs4,049,000. This means, the new Elantra is expensive than the Honda Civic, which surely give an edge to Civic.
