Hyundai Elantra Vs. Sportage Alpha – A Comparison

Keeping our comparison series alive, we are here with a detailed comparison between Hyundai Elantra and KIA Sportage Alpha. Although Elantra is a sedan and Alpha is a crossover SUV, we are comparing these two vehicles because they both are close in terms of price. The Elantra is the latest addition in the sedan category, while Alpha is the base variant of KIA Sportage.

So, without any delay, here is the comparison.

Engine and Transmission: 

KIA has installed 1999cc engine in Alpha, generating 155hp and 196Nm torque. Meanwhile, Elantra comes with 1999cc Naturally Aspirated engine, producing 154hp and 195Nm torque. Hence, both cars are quite similar in engine size, horsepower and torque. 

Furthermore, KIA’s SUV comes with 6-Speed Automatic, while Elantra has been launched with 6-Speed Auto Transmission, making both cars similar once again. 

Exterior: 

Hyundai has launched Elantra with body color bumpers and side mirrors , full tetra LED headlights and LED taillights. Shark-fin-antenna will also be available. Furthermore, it has chrome front grill, fog lights, LED DRL is also standard equipment. Meanwhile, Alpha comes with Halogen Front Lamps, Halogen Taillights, body-colored door handles, and no DRLs. 

Furthermore, Elantra is launched with 16-inch Alloy wheels, while Alpha comes with 17-inch Alloy Wheels.

Parking Sensors and Rear Camera: 

Sportage Alpha only has Rear Camera but no Parking Sensors. Meanwhile, Elantra also comes with Rear Camera, and no Parking Sensors in it. This means, both vehicles are quite similar in this category as it would be hard to park them in congested places.  

Safety: 

Hyundai has installed  airbags in it, while  Alpha comes with  2 airbags, Rain Sensors and Immobilizer.  Meanwhile, Elantra  comes with 2 airbags, Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Stability Control, and ISOFIX child seat. Meanwhile, the brakes in Alpha are Ventilated Disc ones at both front and rear, while Elantra has Ventilated Disc Brakes at front, while Disc Brakes on the back. A cursory look would show that Elantra is much more safer and secure car as compared to Alpha.

Hyundai has also installed Central Locking with Speed Sensing Door Lock, which KIA has not offered in Sportage Alpha.

Interior: 

If we come to the interior, we will find that  both cars have fabric seats and 7-inch screen Infotainment screen. Meanwhile, Elantra has 8-way Powered Driver Seat with 2-Way Lumber Support, and Manual Day and Night rear view mirror. Furthermore, both vehicles have Steering controls, Keyless entry, and Manual handbrakes.

Extra Features in Hyundai Elantra: 

Meanwhile, Elantra comes with a Sunroof, while Alpha is a hardtop crossover SUV. This features makes Elantra more executive and luxury car as this feature has been quite a hit among the local consumers in Pakistan.  Furthermore, like Tucson, Hyundai has also offered Wireless Charger in its sedan, making it extremely easy and convenient to charge your mobile phone. 

Furthermore, Elantra has Smart Trunk Lid Opener, meaning the trunk would open automatically, if a person with its Smart Key stays in a position near the trunk for 3 seconds or more.

Price: 

Now, time for the most important comparison, Hyundai has set the price of its sedan at Rs4,09,000, while the rate of Sportage Alpha is Rs4,399,000. Hence, the new Elantra is cheaper than the crossover SUV Alpha.
