The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has approved $475 million to fund the long-delayed Sukkur‑Hyderabad Motorway (M‑6), part of a broader $603 million financing package for development projects, DAWN reported.

The 306‑kilometre, six-lane motorway is a critical link in Pakistan’s north‑south corridor, expected to reduce travel times, boost trade and enhance regional connectivity. Total project costs are estimated at $1.7 billion, with the IsDB funding set to overcome previous financial bottlenecks.

Officials say construction will include multiple interchanges, bridges and underpasses, paving the way for smoother freight and passenger movement across Sindh. The project is a major step in Pakistan’s push to modernize transport infrastructure and attract multilateral financing.
