The move follows the recent fuel price hike, which has increased transport costs for daily commuters, particularly bike riders. In response, the government has introduced targeted relief for bike owners, making proper registration a key condition for availing the subsidy.

According to the official notice shared on X, motorcycle owners must ensure their bikes are registered in their own names to qualify for the petrol subsidy. Citizens have been advised to register or transfer their bike registrations without delay.

As part of the facilitation measures, bike ownership transfers in Islamabad will be free for one month, and the excise office will stay open 24/7 to handle the expected rush.

Steps for Bike Owners

  • Ensure the bike is registered in your own name
  • Visit the Islamabad Excise and Taxation office for transfer, if needed
  • Complete the registration or ownership transfer process immediately
  • Avail the petrol subsidy after fulfilling the ownership requirement

The initiative aims to ease the burden on bike users, many of whom rely on bikes as their primary mode of transport.
