It is reported that the company has plans to set up an assembly plant for electric cars in Pakistan to expand its production line. One reason the company is planning to launch electric vehicles in the country might be the incentives which the government has given to promote electric vehicles in the country. The incentives which the government has given in the budget 2018-19 is as follow:

  • Exemption of 16% customs duty on charging stations for electric vehicles
  • Reduction of customs duty from 50% to 25% and exemption of 15% RD on electric vehicles
  • Customs duty on kits of electric vehicle reduced from 50% to 10%

Electric cars are not new phenomena, all the developing countries are moving from fossil fuel based vehicles to electric cars to tackle climate change and global warming, and China is a torchbearer in this initiative. And without a doubt, it’s good news that a Chinese automaker is planning to come to Pakistan.

The company is already working with Ghandhara and has introduced vehicles in the market such as JAC X200 and is planning to launch JAC T6 in future.
