Omoda & Jaecoo Pakistan has announced that all new Jaecoo J7 units dispatched from the factory will now come with a Battery Protection Sheet, and existing J7 owners will also receive it free of charge:

Notification from NexGen, circulating on social media. PakWheels has also confirmed from NexGen, it is official.

The update was shared via an official notification from NexGen, the Nishat Group subsidiary that handles Omoda and Jaecoo operations in Pakistan.

What Is a Battery Protection Sheet?

The dark blue color plate is called a battery protection sheet

A battery protection sheet is an underbody cover that protects battery wiring, connectors, and other lower-side hybrid components from stones, mud, and road debris.

For hybrid vehicles in Pakistan, it is important because rough roads and northern-area tracks can easily damage exposed parts underneath the vehicle.

New J7 Units Will Get Protection from the Factory

According to the notification, every Jaecoo J7 dispatched from the factory on or after 15th May 2026 will include the battery protection sheet as standard.

Existing Owners Will Also Get It Free

For existing J7 owners, NexGen will begin scheduling appointments for already-delivered J7 vehicles from 1st July 2026

Customers can have the protection sheet installed at their nearest authorized Omoda or Jaecoo dealership.

The appointment process will begin through a QR code, which the company says will be available from 10th June 2026 on all Omoda and Jaecoo dealership’s social media pages.

How Existing Customers Can Book Installation

As per the notification, customers will need to:

  1. Scan the QR code (shared on the dealership’s social media page).
  2. Scan their vehicle registration book for automatic information upload.
  3. Enter their registered mobile number.
  4. Verify the OTP received on their phone.
  5. Select the nearest dealer, date, and time slot.
  6. Visit the dealership at the scheduled time for installation.

The Viral Incident Behind the Decision

The update comes after a Northern incident went viral on social media. A customer took the Jaecoo J7 to Taobat (in the northern region), where the vehicle became stuck in the mud along the route.

The driver tried to move the vehicle out of the mud, after which a stone or piece of debris struck the underbody. Since no protection sheet was installed by the company, the exposed lower-side components were damaged, including the high-voltage hybrid battery wiring connector. The vehicle then shut down due to a malfunction.

We covered this incident in detail in our previous article.

The incident sparked strong criticism on social media, with many users questioning why a PHEV SUV with sensitive high-voltage wiring does not come with underbody protection from the start, especially given the country’s road conditions and the popularity of travel in the north.

A Good Response from Jaecoo

Jaecoo’s decision to add the protection sheet to new units and offer it free to existing owners does not erase the original concern, but it does show that the company listened to customer feedback.

For a new brand trying to build trust in Pakistan, this kind of after-sales response matters almost as much as the vehicle itself.
