The Lahore High Court administration has introduced a scheme allowing judicial officers serving in Punjab’s courts to purchase their allotted official vehicles at discounted prices, Tribune reported.

Judges Can Buy Government Cars for the Price of a 150cc Bike

Under the scheme, District and Sessions Judges, Additional District and Sessions Judges, Senior Civil Judges, Civil Judges and Family Judges may buy the government-owned vehicles currently assigned to them.

The eligible vehicles include Suzuki Alto, Toyota Corolla, and Honda City models, which can be bought for Rs 250,000 and Rs 350,000.

These prices are so low that even a brand-new 150cc motorcycle costs more than that (Suzuki GS150 at Rs 389,000).

More Judicial Officers Covered

Judges serving in Anti-Terrorism Courts, Accountability Courts, Banking Courts, FIA Special Courts, Anti-Narcotics Courts, Customs Courts and Labour Courts across Punjab are also covered by the scheme.

The concession also applies to Punjab judicial officers currently serving at the Islamabad High Court, Supreme Court of Pakistan, Constitutional Court, and federal and provincial law ministries.

Around 2,000 judicial officers are expected to benefit from the initiative.

July 22 Deadline for Payment

The Director General of the Directorate of District Judiciary has issued implementation instructions to all District and Sessions Judges in Punjab.

Eligible officers have been directed to submit pay orders in favor of the Registrar, Lahore High Court, by July 22, 2026.

The vehicles included in the scheme are currently being used as official transport and remain the property of the Lahore High Court.

The move has reportedly been welcomed by members of the subordinate judiciary, with several court officials visiting banks to arrange the required pay orders.
