An overseas Pakistani national has reportedly filed a compensation claim of Rs. 178.07 million after losing an eye in an accident allegedly linked to construction work on the BRT Red Line project.
According to media reports, the petitioner has named the Red Line project director and the construction contractor among the respondents. He has also sought compensation from the Sindh government and the authorities overseeing the public transport project.
Accident Reportedly Occurred on University Road
The petition reportedly states that the man was traveling on University Road when he was involved in an accident near the Red Line construction area.
His lawyer claimed that barriers placed along the road did not have adequate reflectors, warning signs, or other visible safety markings. The petitioner alleged that the absence of these measures led to the accident, causing severe facial injuries and the loss of one eye.
According to the reported details, the incident occurred after the petitioner returned to Pakistan following Hajj in 2025.
Petitioner Claims Negligence
The petitioner has reportedly accused the project management and the contractor of failing to ensure adequate safety measures around the construction zone.
Through the petition, he has sought Rs. 178.7 million in damages for medical expenses, permanent disability and other losses allegedly suffered because of the accident.
The allegations have yet to be decided by the court. No detailed response from the Sindh government, the BRT Red Line authorities, or the contractor had been reported at the time of writing.
