The 2020 Kia Sportage crossover has been officially unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show. However, its spy shots went viral way before the event in Chicago. It was clear that the new model will bring forth a meaner and sportier look on the road, compared to its previous model. You will be glad to know that some positive design changes that we saw in the prototype have made their way to the final production-ready car.

Talking about the front, the headlights have been retouched and now feature LED technology in some trim levels. The turn signals are also fitted with bright LEDs in some trim levels. Finally, the fog lights featured in the new 2020 Kia Sportage are also available with LED as the main lighting element. Both of the bumpers have redesigned skid plate while the taillights have been redesigned and have a stylish new look. Another major design change that will help you spot a 2020 Kia Sportage crossover easily is the new selection of 17, 18, and 19-inch wheel sizes.

The new model is equipped with a lot of new features inside the cabin too. The 8-inch touchscreen will be standard across all trim levels and will be available with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Options for the main control panel include a wireless smartphone charging tray, modem-powered telematics, and navigation. The steering has been massively redesigned, and a new “Sofino” leather trim option has been made available.

The 2020 Kia Sportage comes with optional driver assist features that now include high beam assist, attention warning, adaptive cruise, lane keeping assist, start-stop, and a forward collision assist that detects pedestrians. The radar essential for cruise control functionality can be seen right below the Kia emblem at the centre of the main tiger-nose grille.

The powertrain for the new model will be the same as the one powering the last Sportage model. The options for naturally aspirated engines include a 2.4- and a 2.0-litre 181hp engine with a 240hp turbofour engine. The standard six-speed automatic transmission will be rigged to an AWD or an FWD drivetrain based on your choice.
