Lahore- Now Bigger The Vehicle, Bigger the Fine

Lahore’s traffic system is undergoing a major transformation with a new fine policy based on economic status. The bigger and more luxurious your vehicle, the heavier the fine you’ll face for traffic violations. This initiative aims to ensure fair penalties while encouraging responsible driving habits across all economic segments.

How the New Fine System Works

The revised traffic fine structure categorizes vehicles into three levels:

The objective behind this tiered fine system is to introduce traffic compliance based on economic feasibility. Those who can afford expensive vehicles will now be required to pay higher penalties, discouraging reckless driving and ensuring greater road discipline. Additionally, cracking down on polluting vehicles will contribute to reducing air pollution, a major issue in Lahore.

Traffic Enforcement Actions

In the past 24 hours, Lahore’s traffic authorities have taken significant steps to ensure compliance with traffic laws. A total of 25,123 traffic challans were issued for various violations, highlighting the city’s strict stance against reckless driving.

Additionally, authorities collected 15 million PKR in fines, reinforcing the financial consequences of breaking traffic rules. To promote legal compliance, 26,266 new driving licenses were issued, encouraging citizens to follow proper licensing procedures. In a move to combat air pollution, 75 vehicles emitting excessive smoke were banned from the roads, contributing to a cleaner environment.

These enforcement actions demonstrate Lahore’s commitment to maintaining road discipline, ensuring safer streets, and fostering a culture of responsible driving.
