Latest: Changan Deepal K50 Hunter Testing in Pakistan Hints at Upcoming Launch

A few days ago, we reported on the Deepal K50 leaked images that surfaced online, in which it appeared to be standing in a portside area. Now, there’s a new picture of it in the wild on an off-road track, wrapped in camouflage, which most likely means the company is testing the vehicle for its off-road performance.

From the picture, the truck is standing in a dirt trail, which tells us that the company is probably checking approach angles, traction, suspension travel, ground clearance, steering response, and overall chassis stability under off-road conditions.

Coming to the K50 truck itself, its powertrain is REEV (Range-Extended Electric Vehicle). If you don’t know, in this powertrain, the wheels are driven by electric motors only. The petrol engine is just a generator to feed the battery — no direct drive from the engine. It’s like an EV, but with its own power plant on board.

On paper, the Deepal K50 Hunter makes around 268 hp and 472 Nm of torque (Thailand variant). That torque comes in instantly due to electric motors, which helps during slow climbs and tight, technical sections.

However, real off-road ability will still depend on tires, ground clearance, underbody protection, suspension setup, approach and departure angles, weight distribution, wheel articulation, and how smart the traction control and drive modes are.

So far, Price? Unknown. Launch date? Also unknown. But when a camo truck is out here getting dirty, the clock is ticking. If it lands, the K50 Hunter would be Pakistan’s first REEV pickup truck, and will give competition to many competitively priced 4×4 trucks in Pakistan.
