Motorists traveling on Pakistan’s motorways will soon need a registered M-Tag, as One Network has advised vehicle owners to complete registration before June 15, 2026.
The move is part of a wider push toward digital toll collection and smoother motorway access. For regular motorway users, this means the days of treating M-Tag as optional are effectively ending. From June 15, vehicles without a valid M-Tag may face difficulty entering or traveling on motorway routes.
What Motorists Need to Know
According to the advisory, M-Tag will become mandatory for travel on all motorways from June 15, 2026. Motorists have been urged to register before the deadline to avoid delays, long queues, and last-minute inconvenience at toll plazas.
Another important update is for people using older M-Tags. Vehicle owners with M-Tags older than five years have been advised to replace them before June 30, 2026. These older tags are expected to be blocked from July 1 if they are not replaced on time.
The replacement cost has also changed. Earlier, old M-Tags could be replaced free of cost until May 31. From June 1, replacement charges were set at Rs. 150. After July 1, motorists may have to pay Rs. 300 for a replacement tag.

Cash Recharge Also Being Phased Out
One Network’s advisory also highlights another major shift: cash recharge for M-Tag is set to end on June 30, 2026.
This means motorists will increasingly have to rely on digital recharge options instead of topping up with cash at toll points. The M-Tag One Network app allows users to check their balance, view travel history, and recharge accounts digitally.
For tech-savvy users, this should make motorway travel easier. But for older drivers or those not accustomed to mobile banking and digital wallets, the transition may pose some initial difficulties. That is why registering, replacing old tags, and learning the recharge process before the deadline is important.
