“Mansoor Ali Khan’s Nissan Note E-Power” – Owner Review

Today we’re back with the owner’s review of Mansoor Ali Khan’s Nissan Note e-Power. Mansoor is a renowned Pakistani journalist associated with top news channels.

Today he shares his experience with the Note E and briefs us about its features. This is the 2nd generation of the Note, which was launched in 2012 and remained in production until 2020. It comes with a 1.2 liter 3 cylinder engine paired with a 1.5 kWh battery with a combined 109hp and 254Nm of torque. The engine also functions as a generator to charge the battery. This engine is configured with an Xtronic CVT transmission; this rather complex powertrain enables the car to achieve 0 to 100 km/h in around 8 seconds.

Purchase Decision

The owner searched for a secondary car for daily usage and considered hybrid cars, including Vitz, Aqua, and Note. He also thought about petrol cars like Honda City, but it had no features and lacked decent headroom, which was the primary criteria as his sons are tall.

Finally, he decided to go with the Nissan Note as it had a considerable amount of space in the interior, was well equipped with features, and the fuel average was a major plus point. He bought the car for Rs 31.5 lacs.

Salient Features

The Nissan Note comes with a host of features which include projection headlamps, 15-inch alloy rims, 4 cameras mounted on the exterior of the car, the rearview mirror can be converted into a screen showing a clear rear view, steering controls, single-zone digital climate control, a partially digital instrument cluster, infotainment screen, etc. Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS brakes, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, etc.

Fuel Average

The fuel average of the Nissan Note is the main highlight of its features. As per the owner, he easily gets around 25 to 30 km/l depending on the driving style. The average increases in stop-and-go traffic as it has regenerative braking, which helps charge the battery. He has not driven it on the highway but the average will go down on a long stretch.

Drive

The Nissan Note is an electric hybrid vehicle, and its advanced technology enables it to give great power delivery along with an amazing fuel average. The acceleration is very quick with the help of the electric motor, and the drive is very smooth.

Cabin noise is minimal while driving as with most imported cars. Suspension and handling are decent, but the owner felt the stock tyres didn’t have enough road grip. Overall, the drive is very satisfactory, and the attractive fuel consumption makes it much better.

Ground Clearance

Ground clearance was an issue initially on stock tyres as the car hit speed breakers with multiple passengers, but the owner replaced the old tyres with higher profile tyres which increased the ground clearance.

Spare Parts

A major issue in these JDM hybrids, especially in cars like Note, is the lack of availability of spare parts locally. However, according to the owner, parts are not an issue for him as the person he bought the car from often imports its parts from Japan. Prices are relatively high compared to local cars.

Maintenance

The owner maintains his Nissan Note E-Power from a local workshop; routine maintenance includes an oil change and filters, which according to the owner, cost around Rs. 12,000 every 5000 km, which is on the higher side for a hatchback.
