As reported earlier, Pakistan’s car sales data for May 2026 showed a mixed month for the auto industry. The detailed model-wise breakdown now gives a clearer view of which cars performed well and which ones slowed down.
Suzuki: Fronx Makes Strong Debut
Suzuki Alto, as usual, led the market with 5,964 units sold in May. This was 21% lower than April, but Alto still remained far ahead of every other model.
Suzuki Swift sold 1,656 units, down 25% from April. Cultus dropped sharply to 255 units, while Every fell to 429 units.
The major highlight for Suzuki was the new Fronx. It sold 552 units in May, which is a considerably good response for a newly launched crossover.
More importantly, Fronx sold more than the Suzuki Every and Cultus. It also outsold several SUVs and crossovers, including the Hyundai Tucson, Santa Fe, Honda HR-V, Jetour, and BAIC BJ40L.
This shows that buyers are responding well to Suzuki’s new crossover.
Toyota: Mainstream Models Decline, Fortuner and Hilux Stay Stable
Toyota Corolla, Yaris, and Corolla Cross recorded combined sales of 2,685 units in May, down 22% from April.
Toyota Fortuner and Hilux performed better, with 811 units sold, up from 879 in April. That is only an 8% decline.
This shows that Toyota’s premium SUV and pickup buyers remained relatively stable despite the overall market slowdown.
Honda: City and Civic Slow Down
Honda City and Civic sold 1,952 units in May, down 20% from April.
Honda BR-V and HR-V remained almost flat, with 278 units sold, down from 284 in April. The decline was only 2%.
Honda still has strong brand value in Pakistan, but the sedan segment is facing pressure as more buyers shift toward crossovers and SUVs.
Hyundai: Tucson Gains, Elantra Drops
Hyundai Tucson was one of the few models to show growth. It sold 287 units in May, up 11% from April.
However, Elantra dropped sharply from 428 units to 209 units, a 51% fall. Sonata also declined slightly to 31 units, while Santa Fe dropped to 36 units.
The data show that Hyundai’s SUV demand outperformed its sedan demand in May.
Haval and Tank: SUVs Remain Important
Haval sold 1,249 units in May, down 43% from April. Despite the decline, it remained one of the strongest SUV performers in the market.
Tank 500 also made its first appearance with 355 units sold. For a large premium SUV, this is a strong entry and shows that demand for high-end SUVs still exists in Pakistan.
However, long-term success for such models will depend on after-sales support, parts availability, and resale confidence.
Jetour, Isuzu, Honri-Ve, and BAIC
Jetour sold 200 units in May, down 34% from April.
Isuzu D-Max rose sharply from 20 units to 54 units, showing a 170% increase, although volumes remained small.
Honri-Ve stayed unchanged at 30 units, showing limited but stable EV demand.
BAIC BJ40L fell to only 4 units, down from 10 units in April.
