MG ES5 EV Coming to Pakistan – International Features
Another day, another car making its way to Pakistan—and this time, it’s an all-electric SUV with global flair. Straight from the buzz of the Shanghai Auto Show 2025, we’ve got exciting news: MG Pakistan is planning to launch the MG ES5 EV, a stylish new addition to its electric vehicle lineup.
The Update came from none other than Suneel Manj, who was at the Shanghai Auto Show and got up close and personal with the ES5. From its sleek design to its plush interior and powerful motor, this EV looks ready to turn heads and change the game.
But MG wasn’t the only star in Shanghai. The show also gave us updates on MI Motors bringing the IM LS6, and Haval Pakistan preparing the launch of GWM Poer Cannon Alpha PHEV—but let’s stick to the MG story for now.
What’s New with the MG ES5?
The MG ES5 isn’t just another electric SUV—it’s a next-gen evolution of MG’s electric lineup. Designed to replace the ZS EV in international markets (including Europe, the UK, and Australia), the ES5 is built on the same Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) as the MG4 hatchback, but with a longer wheelbase, sharper looks, and advanced tech.

Unlike the 2025 MG ZS, which went hybrid-only, the ES5 is a pure electric vehicle, showcasing MG’s commitment to zero-emission mobility.

The ES5 ditches the traditional grille, opting for a sleek, futuristic face that sets it apart from MG’s fuel-powered models. Key highlights include:
- Cyberster-inspired bumper intakes
- Slim, split LED headlights for a more aggressive look
- Full-width LED taillights (similar to the MG4)
- Smooth, aerodynamic profile for better efficiency

Interior
Step inside, and the ES5 feels like a tech haven:
- 6-inch floating touchscreen (yes, it’s massive!)
- 25-inch digital instrument cluster
- D-shaped steering wheel with a gear shifter mounted behind
- Wireless charging pad & cup holders for convenience
- 4 to 6-speaker audio system, depending on the variant
The cabin is clean, modern, and packed with smart features, making every drive a premium experience.
Power & Performance
Under the hood (or rather, under the floor), the ES5 packs:
- Single rear electric motor producing 168 HP (170 PS) & 250 Nm torque
- Ultra-slim lithium iron phosphate battery (by SAIC-CATL)
- Three battery options, with the largest offering 62.2 kWh capacity
- Up to 525 km (326 miles) range (CLTC cycle)
While it’s currently a single-motor setup, MG might introduce dual-motor AWD versions in the future for even more power.

- Peugeot E-2008
