MG HS Trophy Price Retained Despite New NEV Levy
The government’s new NEV (New Energy Vehicle) Levy, introduced in the 2025–26 budget, has shaken up the local auto industry. Most car manufacturers in Pakistan have responded by increasing car prices, passing the extra tax straight to customers. But not all brands are following that path — some are choosing to absorb the cost themselves to avoid burdening buyers. Interestingly, MG Pakistan has done the same for MG HS Trophy.
Earlier, Sazgar Engineering, the company behind Haval SUVs in Pakistan, set an example by not raising the prices of its models like the Haval H6 and Jolion. Instead, they made internal adjustments, slightly tweaking ex-factory costs to keep retail prices the same for customers.
Now, MG Pakistan has taken a similar step.
MG HS Trophy – Price Holds Steady
On February 10, MG Pakistan launched the MG HS Trophy with a special early bird price of Rs. 8,199,000. This limited-time offer was available for customers who bought the vehicle immediately after the launch period. The actual price of the SUV, however, was set at Rs. 8,399,000.
Now that the promotional offer has ended, MG has officially shifted to the regular price of Rs. 8,399,000.
Here’s what’s important:
Despite the added NEV Levy, MG did not increase the price any further. This means the company has absorbed the extra cost internally, shielding buyers from the tax hike.
While MG and Sazgar are easing the pressure on buyers, other major players have gone the opposite direction. Pak Suzuki (PSMC), Changan Pakistan, and Kia Lucky Motors have all announced price increases following the NEV Levy, making MG’s move even more noticeable in the current market.
What’s New in the MG HS Trophy?
If you’re wondering what sets the MG HS Trophy apart, here are the key upgrades MG has introduced:
- A larger 12.1-inch infotainment system for a more modern in-car experience
- A new ‘Monaco Blue’ interior color option for added luxury
- The exterior design remains similar to the HS PHEV, but with a distinctive ‘Trophy’ badge on the front grille.
At a time when car prices are rising due to new government levies, it’s refreshing to see brands like MG and Sazgar choosing to keep things steady. Whether it’s a smart business move or a customer-first approach, buyers certainly benefit.
