MINI Countryman Variants in Pakistan: E, SE and Petrol Compared

356

After formally showcasing the MINI brand at Mohatta Palace in Karachi, Dewan Motors has drawn more attention to its MINI lineup in Pakistan. The event focused on the brand’s EV models, including the MINI Cooper, MINI Aceman, and MINI Countryman.

However, the Countryman lineup in Pakistan also includes a petrol variant, making it worth comparing the electric and petrol options side by side for buyers considering the premium crossover.

In our previous blog, we looked at the MINI Countryman SE in detail. This time, the focus is on the complete MINI Countryman lineup in Pakistan and how its three variants compare across price, range, performance, drivetrain, and overall usability.

The MINI Countryman range in Pakistan includes:

Variant Powertrain
MINI Countryman E Electric
MINI Countryman SE Electric
MINI Countryman Petrol Petrol

The Countryman is the larger and more practical model in MINI’s lineup. It is aimed at buyers who want MINI’s design identity in a crossover body style, with the option of either electric performance or a conventional petrol engine.

It is also important to be clear about the positioning. These are premium crossover models, not budget cars. With prices starting from PKR 24,800,000, the MINI Countryman lineup is aimed at buyers considering European brands, premium imports, lifestyle-focused crossovers, or higher-end EVs.

Variant Retail Price
MINI Countryman E PKR 24,800,000
MINI Countryman SE PKR 26,900,000
MINI Countryman Petrol PKR 25,400,000

The MINI Countryman E is the least expensive option in the range, while the MINI Countryman SE is the most expensive. The Countryman Petrol sits between the two electric variants in terms of price.

For most buyers, the decision will not be based on price alone. The Countryman range is better suited to urban professionals, premium EV buyers, existing European car owners, and families looking for a compact luxury crossover rather than a value-focused family SUV.

MINI Countryman E: Best for Range-Focused EV Buyers

The MINI Countryman E is the entry electric variant in the Countryman lineup. It comes with a 65.2 kWh battery, front-wheel drive, 204 hp, and 250 Nm of torque.

Its main strength is range. With a claimed WLTP range of 452 to 501 km and an estimated EPA range of around 387 to 429 km, the Countryman E offers the highest claimed range among the electric Countryman variants.

It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. That makes it slower than the Countryman SE, but still practical for city driving, office commutes, and highway use.

Who should buy the MINI Countryman E?

Choose the Countryman E if you want:

  • The highest claimed electric range in the lineup
  • Lower routine running costs
  • A lower price than the Countryman SE
  • A premium EV for city and daily use
  • MINI ownership without paying extra for AWD

Avoid it if you want the strongest acceleration or all-wheel-drive performance.

MINI Countryman SE: Best for Performance and AWD

The MINI Countryman SE is the higher-spec electric variant. It uses a 65 kWh battery and an all-wheel-drive setup, producing 313 hp and 494 Nm of torque.

This is the quickest Countryman variant, with a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 5.6 seconds. Its all-wheel-drive setup gives it an advantage in traction, stability, and power delivery compared with the front-wheel-drive Countryman E.

Its claimed WLTP range is 423-465 km, while the estimated EPA range is 362-398 km. That is lower than the Countryman E, but the trade-off is stronger performance and AWD capability.

Who should buy the MINI Countryman SE?

Choose the Countryman SE if you want:

  • The most powerful Countryman variant
  • 313 hp and 494 Nm of torque
  • All-wheel drive
  • The quickest acceleration in the lineup
  • A premium EV with stronger performance appeal

Avoid it if your priority is maximum range or the lowest Countryman price.

MINI Countryman Petrol: Best for Buyers Not Ready for EVs

The MINI Countryman Petrol is powered by a 1499 cc petrol engine producing 170 hp and 280 Nm of torque. It uses a front-wheel-drive layout and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds.

Compared with the Countryman E, the petrol variant offers slightly quicker acceleration and more torque. More importantly, it removes charging-related concerns, which still matter to buyers who lack access to home charging or reliable public charging.

At PKR 25,400,000, the petrol variant is more expensive than the Countryman E but less expensive than the Countryman SE.

Who should buy the MINI Countryman Petrol?

Choose the Countryman Petrol if you want:

  • MINI Countryman styling without EV charging concerns
  • A familiar petrol ownership experience
  • Slightly quicker acceleration than the Countryman E
  • No dependence on home or public chargers
  • A premium crossover with conventional refueling convenience

Avoid it if your priority is electric running cost or zero-emission driving.

PakWheels Take

The MINI Countryman lineup is not trying to win on affordability. It is trying to offer premium crossover buyers three ways to enter the MINI brand.

The smart money for EV buyers may be on the Countryman E, because it offers the best claimed range and the lowest price in the lineup. The Countryman SE is for buyers who want the full performance experience and are willing to trade some range for AWD and quicker acceleration. The Petrol variant remains relevant because Pakistan’s charging network is still developing, and not every premium buyer wants to plan life around a charger.

So the real decision is simple: choose E for range, SE for performance, and Petrol for convenience.
