Motorway Police Increase Fines by 200% On Traffic Violations

National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have decided to increase the fines over traffic violations by 200%. According to details, the motorway police will implement new fines from October 1, 2023 and currently running an awareness campaign on different platforms including social media.

The decision to revise fine rates was taken during a meeting of NHMP as authorities discuss the options to reduce traffic violations on the roads.

Toll Tax Increase 

Last month, the toll tax on Lahore-Islamabad (M2) motorway was increased by 10% under a 20-year agreement between the National Highway Authority (NHA) and MS/More, a subsidiary of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO). The NHA signed the deal in 2014 to execute “overlay 86 modernization of Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2)” on a Build Operate Transfer (BOT) Basis.
