New Mehran? Hybrid ‘Daala’ For Pakistan & Other Cars – Suneel at Shanghai Auto Show

Our very own Suneel Munj is currently at Shanghai Auto Show 2025, where he is discovering different cars including a potential Mehran, a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) truck to be launched in Pakistan, a flying car and a proper SUV. Here is what he has seen so far.
Neo Firefly
“Sir, is that a Mehran behind you?” Nope! Not a Mehran. That’s a misleading rumour.
What you’re actually looking at is the Neo Firefly – and it’s something far better.
What is Neo Firefly?
This is a 100% electric car, and the name Firefly literally translates to Jugnu in Urdu. And just like a firefly spreads light, this car is here to shine bright in the EV world.
Design & Build
A small and compact EV, but far more premium than it looks.
It’s almost double the size of a Suzuki Mehran, so let’s not even compare.
Features a panoramic roof—something you don’t usually see on small EVs.
Both the front and rear carry illuminated ring designs, part of its new design philosophy.
You’ll also notice the illuminated Firefly logo at the front.
There’s a camera placed above, along with a rear spoiler for a sporty look.
Interior Feel
Interior uses a lot of fabric—adds comfort and gives it a warm feel.
Gives off major Ora 3 vibes, especially in terms of size and form factor.
However, the dashboard here is simpler than Ora 3’s, which had more stylish controls.
You still get:
A large infotainment screen
A digital instrument cluster right in front of the driver, though it’s more compact in size.
Final Word
All in all, the Neo Firefly is a stylish, modern, and efficient electric car. And just to be clear once again:
This is NOT a Mehran. It just happens to be a compact car that’s ready to light up the EV market!
Meet the Tank 700
“Let’s try going under the Tank!” And yes, Suneel literally crawls under the vehicle.
“I think I’ve won this challenge… but at the cost of my clothes!”
Despite feeling a bit claustrophobic, Suneel managed to slide under the SUV—something he says he’s never done even under rally trucks. That alone speaks volumes about this vehicle’s massive ground clearance.
Exterior
This is the Tank 700, a bold and premium 4×4 SUV with Hi4-T Technology.
It has a matte finish exterior with defined character lines, adding to its aggressive and refined presence.
The fender flares are body-coloured, maintaining a clean, massive look without overdoing it.
Even with 22-inch wheels, the wheel gap shows just how high this SUV really sits.
You’ll also see accents in glossy black and black chrome, which complement the rugged yet premium design.
Interior Walkthrough
As the welcome side board slides out, you get a glimpse of the luxury inside:

The infotainment and instrument cluster are fully integrated.
Depending on which terrain mode you select (e.g., Snow Mode), the car auto-adjusts its performance and settings to match.

GWM Poer Cannon Alpha (PHEV)
Pakistanis, I know many of you have been frustrated with the pickup (daala) options available here. Some of you were excited about the BYD Shark, and yes—that’s also on the way. But there’s something else that’s already landed in Pakistan…
The “Daala”

This is a long-wheelbase chassis, which means ample legroom at the back.
You can recline the rear seats and adjust them to your comfort—unheard of in most pickups.
For those in Pakistan who complain about uncomfortable rear seats in “daala” vehicles—this one’s different.

Rear Utility – It’s a Lifestyle Pickup
Don’t think of it as a truck—this is a full-on lifestyle vehicle.
The rear trunk space can be used for travel and storage.
There’s a powered tailgate with hydraulic struts, making it easy to open and close—especially handy for people who aren’t very tall.
Comes with roof rails and other practical details.
EV Features & Charging
Being a Plug-in Hybrid, it supports both AC and DC charging.
Dedicated charging ports are built into the rear section.
You can also use the rear space for gear and accessories—just push a button and it opens up smoothly.

The 7D floor mats, plush branding, and materials make it clear: this is not your average truck.

It’s a 2.0L Plug-in Hybrid, offering the best of both electric and petrol performance.
The front LED headlights are sleek, stylish, and futuristic.

“For those who thought Pakistan’s pickup truck market had no variety—this one’s about to shake things up.”

Wait, Is That a Flying Car?
This isn’t your typical ride—it’s a futuristic flying machine, a hybrid between a drone and a helicopter, and it proudly carries the Changan logo up top.
People at the venue are already stepping inside and checking it out, so let’s jump in and explore what it’s all about.
Interior Walkthrough
It’s a two-seater aircraft, designed to carry two passengers at a time.
There’s already someone inside, and Suneel tries to squeeze in to show the setup.
In the center, you’ll notice what looks like a control stick or joystick.
Two dedicated seats with headrests are placed side by side—cosy enough for you and a companion.
Dual screens are mounted in front of each seat—sort of like iPad-style displays, one for each passenger.
Door & Cabin Feel
The entry hatch opens upward and then seals you in from the top.
From inside, it gives a very futuristic pod-like vibe.
Suneel jokes around:
“Looks like I’m ready to fly… but don’t worry, I’m not actually taking off!”
Concept Overview
The screens and controls inside aren’t currently functional—so this is clearly a concept prototype.
But it gives a glimpse into what urban air mobility might look like in the future.
Final Thoughts
“It’s a drone-type helicopter, something totally new and futuristic. I thought it was cool—so had to share it with you guys!”
So no, it’s not flying just yet. That’s definitely something worth watching.
