HS: MG’s First Model in Pakistan
MG entered the Pakistani market in 2020, and the HS was their first model.
Up until 2022, MG relied on selling imported units. Eventually, the brand introduced the locally assembled unit and named it “Essence,” and later on, the company also launched a lower-priced trim named “Excite.”
In 2024, the company introduced a locally assembled Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) variant to the lineup, alongside the 1.5-turbo variant.
Later, in February 2025, MG launched the facelift to the first-generation HS in both PHEV and non-PHEV trims, featuring a few exterior changes and a new blue-and-white interior color option.
Competition from the Rivals
As the crossover segment evolved, the first-generation HS began to show its age. It faced competition from newer Chinese entrants offering better pricing, cutting-edge tech features, and more modern-looking interiors and exteriors than the HS.
To stay competitive and keep pace with its rivals, MG decided to bring the new-generation HS to Pakistan, a model that has been sold internationally since 2024.
