Nissan’s Self-parking Chairs Return To The Table Automatically – Video
We all hate those situations where we are running late for a meeting or a movie at the cinema but can’t seem to find a parking spot! Nissan has come up with an innovative solution to this problem with Nissan’s self-parking chairs!
These chairs have been designed to move and park themselves at a table when someone claps, thanks to the integration of motors and Wi-Fi control. Nissan partnered with furniture maker Okamura to bring this concept to life, and the chairs are guided by motion-sensitive cameras in the room.
Although the self-parking chairs may seem like a gimmick, Nissan’s true aim was to showcase its intelligent parking assist technology for cars. This technology has been designed to make parking easier and safer for drivers and is now a part of Nissan PROPILOT ASSIST.
ProPILOT Assist combines Nissan’s Intelligent Cruise Control and Steering Assist with a stop-and-hold function to bring the vehicle to a full stop and back up to speed when traffic starts moving again. It also has the self-parking feature.
The self-parking chairs are a clever way to demonstrate how the technology works in a real-world scenario. While the chairs are not available for purchase, they do highlight the potential of this technology in other areas of our lives.
Imagine walking into a restaurant or theater and having the chairs automatically move aside to create a clear path for you. This technology could optimize office space by enabling chairs to adapt and move according to the users’ requirements.
Nissan’s self-parking chairs are a fun and creative way to showcase their intelligent parking assist technology. Although the chairs were never sold, they serve as a reminder of technology’s potential to make our lives easier and more efficient.
